Max is ready for the 2009 Midnight to Dawn bike ride (July 18th).  This is just before midnight in the cafeteria of Southwest High School in Minneapolis.  A few minutes later, we were rolling South on Chowen Avenue, heading towards Hotel Sofitel.
We only made one stop the whole night, at Grand ‘Ol Creamery’ in Saint Paul.  The rest of the ride we rode in a pack with 3 other people we never had met before.
Actually, there was one other brief stop.  We helped a guy whose derailleur fell apart.  He wasn’t part of the ride, just a guy whose bike decided to act up at 3:00 in the morning.  He was pretty surprised, and grateful, to have a group of people ride by who just happened to have bike tools at the ready.
All in all a great night.  Beutiful weather, no incidents, and good company.

Phone went through the wash?  I’ve used this approach to drying out three phones.  Phone functionality returns to normal and the display looks good.  Cameras seem more sensitive, though.
Lego parts and motors make it easy to put something together quickly.  Just be sure to clamp it well, because it will wobble a lot.
It can take a day or two.  Condensation on the display clears up quickly, but keep the phone spinning, anyway.  It helps to take the battery out first.  It makes the phone lighter, and the open cover gives moisture a place to go.

The phone-whipper in action.  Let this run for a day or two.

First test with the black light and red LED eyes connected. A few more tweeks and it should be ready for Halloween.

Wearing the shroud now.  Also attached red LED eyes.

Without the shroud.  Just a marionette hooked up to a crank (above the ghost head).

Hmmm. What to do with this bot? Left and right wheels individually controllable. Scoop with servo motor. Long arm with motor attached to rotation sensor. Limit switch trips when arm is in down position. Forward-facing ultrasound sensor. Could be useful for shoving my old work laptop off the desk.

Beatiful day.  We’re all heading down the block for coffee at Java Jack’s
